Plastic Water Hose Fittings and Adapters: Picks Compared

Plastic hose fittings look alike on a product page, but a size mismatch or the wrong connector style can waste an afternoon. Before you compare anything, check the size of your hose end and the faucet or sprinkler it connects to. Most of the listings below are for 3/4 inch garden hose, so that is the size to confirm first.

This guide covers six sets of garden hose fittings found on Amazon. Four are plastic. Two are not: one is aluminum and one is brass. They are labeled that way below so you can decide whether a metal fitting is acceptable for your job.

Quick answer

If you want a large pack of plastic quick connectors, the 20 piece set (listed as 32 pieces, 3/4 inch) gives the most pieces. The Eden 5-piece set is the smaller plastic option and its title mentions a water stop. The LIULO set of 8 and the 10 piece set with shut off valves are also plastic. The Hourleey repair connector is aluminum and the HQMPC set is solid brass, so they suit buyers who are fine with metal. This one is not plastic. The listing gives aluminum as the material. It is a male repair connector with clamps, and the title says it fits 3/4 inch or 5/8 inch garden hose. The size field says 5-Set but the piece count says 4, so confirm the contents on the product page. Weight is listed as 160 g and dimensions as 3.94 x 3.94 x 0.79 inches.

Suits: someone repairing a damaged hose end who is happy with metal and wants one that fits two hose sizes.

• Pros: aluminum, clamps included in the title, and fits 3/4 inch or 5/8 inch hose per the title.

HQMPC solid brass quick connector (brass)

This is a brass set, not plastic. The listing gives the material as brass, a set of 2 and dimensions of 1.62 x 1.7 x 1.3 inches. The listed weight is 0.27 g, which looks too small for brass fittings, so treat that figure with caution. Hose size is not stated in the listed fields.

Suits: a buyer who prefers metal over plastic and needs just two connectors.

• Pros: solid brass per the title and a small two-set pack.
• Cons: not plastic, hose size not stated, and the weight figure looks like a listing error.

Skip if: you want plastic or need more than two sets.

The title describes 8 sets of 3/4 inch plastic quick connectors, male and female. The listing gives few fields: product dimensions of 3 x 4 x 5 inches, a weight of 9.6 ounces and the model number Plastic Quick Connector. Material and size therefore come from the title only.

Suits: a buyer who wants a mid-sized pack of plastic male and female connectors for 3/4 inch hose.

• Pros: eight sets, male and female pairs per the title, and a 3/4 inch size in the title.
• Cons: few listed specs, so confirm details on the product page.

Buying checklist

• Check your hose size first. Most plastic listings here say 3/4 inch.
• Decide if metal is acceptable. The Hourleey is aluminum and the HQMPC is brass.
• Count the pieces on the product page. Several titles and spec fields disagree.
• Decide whether you need male and female pairs, or a repair end.
• Look for a water stop or shut off valve if you swap attachments often.
• None of the listings state a pressure rating, so do not use them on a pressure washer unless the product page says so. See Best Water Hose Adapter for Pressure Washer for that job.

FAQ

Are all six products plastic?

No. Four are plastic: the 20 piece set, the Eden set, the LIULO set and the shut off valve connectors. The Hourleey repair connector is aluminum and the HQMPC set is brass.

What hose size do these fit?

The 20 piece set, LIULO set and valve connectors list 3/4 inch or 0.75 inches. The Hourleey title says 3/4 inch or 5/8 inch. The Eden and HQMPC listings do not state a hose size, so check the product page.

Why do some piece counts not match the title?

The 20 piece set lists 32 pieces and the Hourleey 5-Set lists 4 pieces. The listings do not explain the difference, so confirm what is in the box on the product page.

Which set has a water stop or shut off valve?

The Eden title mentions a water stop, and the last product is titled as having a shut off valve. The other listings do not mention either feature.

Can I use these on a pressure washer?

The listings do not state a pressure rating, so there is no basis to say yes. Check the product page, or read the pressure washer adapter guide on this site.

Closing note

For plastic, the 20 piece set offers the most connectors, Eden is a compact set with a water stop, and the valve connectors add flow control. If you are open to metal, the Hourleey and HQMPC sets are the choices. Confirm hose size and contents on the product page before you order.
