Best Hose Reel for Front of House Guide

The best hose reel for the front of a house depends on three things: where the reel can be mounted, how long a hose it holds, and how far the hose has to reach. None of the listings in this group mentions a front yard, so the choice comes from the mounting, length and swivel details each listing states. This guide compares four reels: three wall-mounted reels and one deck-box cabinet. The listing data was checked on 11 October 2026 and is shown as the sellers state it.

Quick answer: if the reel has to sit on the house, choose a wall-mounted reel with a stated length and swivel bracket. If the reel can stand on its own, the deck-box cabinet holds the longest hose of the four.

The four picks at a glance

Reel	Hose length (as listed)	Mounting (as listed)	Best fit
SILVEL retractable reel, 1/2 inch (B0CFXMV9WQ)	100 ft	Wall mount, 180 degree swivel	Long reach with a 10-pattern nozzle
SUNPOW retractable reel, 1/2 inch (B0D3BVJHX3)	50 ft	Wall mount, 180 degree swivel	Shorter run with a brass fitting
glahoden retractable reel, 1/2 inch (B0CRKPBNNJ)	100 ft	Wall mount, 220 lb rated	Heavy-duty wall mount
AQUAZILLA metal deck box reel (B0D1QGKLYD)	150 ft of 5/8 inch	Deck box cabinet	Longest hose, stored out of sight

How we chose these four

We kept reels whose listing states a hose length, a mounting method or storage style, and a diameter or fitting. We did not test any reel, and nothing below reports personal use.

Mounting: three picks are wall-mounted, and one is a deck-box cabinet that stores the hose inside.
Hose length: the picks run from 50 feet to 150 feet, so the reach is set by the length each listing states.
Listing clarity: where a listing gives two hose lengths or sizes, both are shown below.

1. SILVEL Retractable Garden Hose Reel, 1/2 inch x 100 ft

This is a wall-mounted reel with 100 feet of 1/2-inch hose. The listing says it has an any-length lock and a slow return system, and a heavy-duty swivel bracket that turns through a full 180 degrees. The housing is listed as UV resistant, and the hose as a triple-layer PVC. The listing describes a frost-resistant PP shell. The package includes a 10-function spray nozzle and the wall mount. The reel’s dimensions are 17.72 x 9.25 x 17.13 inches.

2. SUNPOW Retractable Garden Hose Reel, 1/2 inch x 50 ft

This is the shortest of the four, at 50 feet of 1/2-inch hose. It is a wall-mounted reel with a 3/4-inch brass fitting and a 10 sprayer nozzle, as its title states. The listing describes an auto rewind system, a pulley guide rail, and an any-length lock. The bracket turns 180 degrees, and the package includes four bolts and four expansion tubes. The dimensions are 17.28 x 8.64 x 16.2 inches, and the material is PVC. For a front run that is 50 feet or less, this reel covers the distance without a longer hose.

3. glahoden Retractable Garden Hose Reel, 1/2 in x 100 ft

This wall-mounted reel holds 100 feet of 1/2-inch hose. The listing describes a dual ratchet lock and states a locking accuracy of plus or minus 0.65 feet. It says the auto rewind spring is rated for 20,000 cycles, and it describes a 220 lb heavy-duty wall mount. The hose is listed as 3-layer PVC with a reinforced fiber braid and a burst pressure of 348 PSI. The listing gives its UV and freeze-proof coating a temperature range of minus 4 to 122 degrees Fahrenheit. The dimensions are 19.69 x 10.43 x 16.73 inches.

4. AQUAZILLA Metal Garden Hose Reel Deck Box, 150 ft

This is a deck-box cabinet rather than a wall reel. The listing gives 150 feet of 5/8-inch hose capacity and a galvanized steel body with a dark brown powder coat. It has a lid that opens for loading, a hose guide that moves the hose evenly as you rewind, and a 5 ft leader hose in the package. The listing says the connections are no-leak aluminum. Its dimensions are 22.52 x 19.49 x 20.28 inches, which is larger than any wall-mounted reel in this group. The listing does not say how the cabinet is anchored, so check the base before you load it.

Worked example: does the hose reach the far bed?

Take a path of 60 feet from the reel to your farthest bed. The SUNPOW reel holds 50 feet, so it falls 10 feet short of that bed. The SILVEL and glahoden reels hold 100 feet each, so either one covers the path with 40 feet to spare. The hose must also loop from the reel to the bed and back, so measure the real route rather than the straight line.

Hose diameter changes the length too. The YESTAR reel, which is not one of the picks, states that it holds 65 to 100 feet of 5/8-inch hose but 85 to 120 feet of 1/2-inch hose. The same reel therefore holds more 1/2-inch hose than 5/8-inch, so match the reel to the hose you already own before you buy.

What the listings do not say

No listing mentions a front yard, a front door or a front path. The listings give the length and mounting, but none gives a load test for the wall in use, apart from the glahoden listing’s 220 lb wall-mount rating. The stated burst and cycle figures come from the sellers.

Hose diameter: three picks use 1/2-inch hose, and the AQUAZILLA cabinet uses 5/8-inch hose.
Mounting for the cabinet: the AQUAZILLA listing names a deck box and gives no anchoring method.

Frequently asked questions

Which reel suits a front yard?

None of the listings mentions a front yard. The SILVEL and SUNPOW reels are wall-mounted with a 180-degree swivel, so the wall you mount on sets the reach. Measure the path from that wall to the far end of the yard before you choose.

Will a 1/2-inch hose fit these reels?

The SILVEL, SUNPOW and glahoden reels are all listed for 1/2-inch hose. The AQUAZILLA cabinet is listed for 150 feet of 5/8-inch hose. Check the diameter of the hose you already own before you buy.

Which reel holds the most hose?

The AQUAZILLA cabinet holds the most in this group, at 150 feet of 5/8-inch hose. Among the wall-mounted reels, the SILVEL and glahoden each hold 100 feet of 1/2-inch hose.

Do the reels include a nozzle?

The SILVEL listing includes a 10-function spray nozzle, and the SUNPOW title names a 10 sprayer nozzle. The other two listings do not describe a nozzle in the bullets shown here.

Is a deck box reel easier to keep out of the weather?

The AQUAZILLA listing describes a powder-coated steel cabinet with a lid that opens. It does not say whether the cabinet is weatherproof beyond the coating, so check the lid seal and the base before you rely on it outdoors.

Conclusion

For a wall-mounted reel with a long run, the SILVEL and glahoden each hold 100 feet of 1/2-inch hose, and the glahoden states a 220 lb wall mount. The SUNPOW is the shorter choice at 50 feet. If the reel can stand on its own, the AQUAZILLA cabinet holds 150 feet of 5/8-inch hose and keeps the hose out of sight.
