Extendable Outdoor Table

An extendable outdoor table solves one problem: you want a patio table that is not too big on a normal Tuesday, yet still seats the whole family on a holiday. Amazon lists a lot of “foldable” and “expandable” tables that are really camping tables or indoor kitchen tables, so we narrowed the search to dining-height tables that are sold for outdoor use and that give a closed length and an extended length. Five made the cut, from a 32 in to 63 in aluminum table to a 120 in cast aluminum one. Every number below comes from the Amazon listing as it read on October 18, 2026, not from using the tables, and where a listing disagrees with itself we show both numbers instead of choosing one.
Quick answer
The person searching extendable outdoor table usually wants to know how long it gets, what it is made of, and whether it holds an umbrella. Going by the listing numbers:
- Longest when fully open: Darlee Series 60 and Darlee Series 30 (both 92 in closed, 120 in extended, cast aluminum).
- Best match for a family of six to eight: Modway Tahoe (71 in to 94.5 in, aluminum, adjustable foot pins).
- Umbrella hole stated: SERWALL 60 in to 83 in table (2 in hole with a cover) and Darlee Series 60 (hole stated; use with the leaf in place is described).
- Smallest closed size: Fitenlor 32 in to 63 in table, listed for 4 to 6 guests, indoors or outdoors.
Comparison table
All figures are as the listing states them. “Not stated” means the listing text we read gave no number.
| Table | Closed length | Extended length | Frame and top | Seats (stated) | Umbrella hole |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| SERWALL | 60.2 in | 83.1 in | Aluminum frame, HDPE top | 4 to 8 | 2 in, cover included |
| Modway Tahoe | 71 in | 94.5 in | Powder-coated aluminum, slatted top | 6-8 (title), up to 8 (bullet) | Not stated |
| Darlee Series 30 | 92 in | 120 in | Cast aluminum, bronze powder coat | Not stated | Not stated |
| Darlee Series 60 | 92 in | 120 in | Cast aluminum, bronze powder coat | Not stated | Stated |
| Fitenlor | 31 or 32 in (two numbers) | 63 in | Aluminum, wood-pattern top | 4 to 6 | Not stated |
How we chose these five
We searched Amazon for “extendable outdoor table” and several variations, and kept tables that are sold as outdoor or indoor-outdoor dining tables and state both a shorter and a longer length. We opened each listing once and copied only what it says. Left out: folding camping and picnic tables (they fold, they do not extend), round “table top extender” boards sold for indoor dining tables, and a teak butterfly-leaf table that folds from 51 in to 10 in wide, because it is a folding table rather than a dining table that gets longer. Several other extendable aluminum and metal tables appear in the same search results and may suit you; we only list the five we opened.
What the listings mostly leave out: how the extension locks, how much the table rocks when it is open, and how the finish holds up after a few seasons outside. “Rust-resistant” and “all-weather” below are the sellers’ words, so treat them as claims to check against your own climate.
The five extendable outdoor tables
1. SERWALL 60 in to 83 in Expandable Dining Table – the umbrella hole with a cover
Specs (from the listing, checked October 18, 2026): closed length 60.2 in, expanded length 83.1 in, width 34.4 in, height 29.1 in; aluminum frame with an HDPE tabletop; table frame supports 220 lb; 2 in umbrella hole with a matching cover; slatted top that the listing says prevents water pooling; 304 stainless steel hardware; partial assembly, with 25 minutes stated in the comparison row. The same listing also sells 7-piece and 9-piece sets with chairs, so check that the size row says “1 Piece (Expandable Table)” if you only want the table.
Pros: It is the only table here that states a weight limit and gives a hole size and a cover, so it is the easiest to plan around. The listing offers it in several colors.
Cons and limits: The listing says it seats “4 to 8″ people but never says how many fit at each length, so use the closed and open lengths to judge that yourself (see the worked example below).
Best for: A deck table with a hole for shade. Skip if: you want a table longer than 83 in.

2. Modway Tahoe Extendable Dining Table – adjustable foot pins
Specs (from the listing, checked October 18, 2026): extends from 71 in to 94.5 in; 39.5 in wide, 30.5 in high; solid aluminum frame with a powder-coated finish; slatted top with rounded edges; adjustable foot pins to level the table on uneven ground; listed for up to 8 people.
Pros: It is the widest table here at 39.5 in, and the foot pins are called out for uneven patios, which most of the others do not mention.
Cons and limits: The title says “6-8 People” while a bullet says “up to 8″, which is not the same claim. The listing text we read gives no weight limit, no umbrella hole and no assembly time. It currently shows very few ratings, so there is little buyer feedback to check against.
Best for: A patio that is slightly uneven and a household that hosts six or more. Skip if: you need an umbrella hole stated in the listing.

3. Darlee Series 30 Extendable Patio Dining Table – removable leaf
Specs (from the listing, checked October 18, 2026): 92 in W x 42 in D x 29 in H closed; full extension 120 in W x 42 in D x 29 in H; cast aluminum frame; antique bronze powder coating; a removable leaf; sold as a table only, “can be matched with any number of chairs”.
Pros: The leaf comes out, so you can store it and keep a 92 in table most of the year. The listing calls the cast aluminum frame rust-resistant.
Cons and limits: The listing disagrees with itself on how much the leaf adds. A bullet says 30 inches of dining area; the numbers in the description (92 in closed, 120 in extended) work out to 28 in, and the summary line also says 28 in. We show both because the page does. No umbrella hole is stated, and no weight or seating figure.
Best for: A large permanent patio table that opens up for special occasions. Skip if: your space cannot fit a 92 in table at its smallest.

4. Darlee Series 60 Cast Aluminum Extension Dining Table – umbrella hole stated
Specs (from the listing, checked October 18, 2026): 92 in W x 42 in D x 29 in H closed; extends to 120 in; item weight 150 pounds; cast aluminum frame; antique bronze powder coating; umbrella hole; the description says an umbrella can be added when the extension leaf is used.
Pros: It states both the umbrella hole and that the umbrella still works with the leaf in place, which is the question most people ask about extendable tables. The listing gives an item weight of 150 pounds, which is worth checking against your patio surface and how often you plan to move it.
Cons and limits: The detail row reads 120 in D x 42 in W, which is the extended length listed in the depth slot, while the bullet reads 92 W x 42 D. We read the detail row as the open size. The page shows no ratings, so there is nothing from buyers to cross-check against. The finish color is listed as “Brown” in the detail row and “Antique Bronze” in the title.
Best for: A large patio with a shade umbrella. Skip if: you plan to move the table often, because of its 150 lb weight.

5. Fitenlor 31 in to 63 in Aluminum Extendable Table – the compact one
Specs (from the listing, checked October 18, 2026): expands to 63 in; aluminum construction described as resistant to rust and corrosion; a wood-grain or slatted look; smooth surface that wipes clean; lightweight and easy to move; the listing says it works indoors or outdoors and seats 4 to 6.
Pros: It is the only option here that starts small enough for a balcony or narrow porch, and the description calls it lightweight to move around.
Cons and limits: The title says 31 in to 63 in and a bullet says 32 in to 63 in. The listing gives no width, height, weight limit or umbrella hole in the text we read. With only a few ratings on the page, it is the least documented table in this group.
Best for: A small balcony or porch that sometimes hosts a few more people. Skip if: you need a stated weight limit before buying.

Worked example: how many seats does each length give?
For example, take 24 in of table edge per place setting. That 24 in is our assumption, a common planning figure for elbow room, not something the listings state. Dividing each long side by 24 gives a rough count per side: SERWALL closed 60.2 in is about 2.5, so 2 seats per side, while open at 83.1 in it is about 3.5, so 3 per side. Modway Tahoe goes from 71 in (about 3 per side) to 94.5 in (about 3.9, so 3 comfortably and a fourth tight). The Darlee tables go from 92 in (3.8 per side) to 120 in (5 per side). Fitenlor goes from about 1.3 per side closed to 2.6 open.
Add one seat at each end of the table, and the SERWALL, for instance, comes to roughly 6 to 8 when fully open, which fits its “4 to 8″ statement only if the ends are used. Measure your patio too: open length plus about 3 ft of chair-pullout room at each end is the clear space you need, and that 3 ft is also our rule of thumb. For the 120 in Darlee, that means about 16 ft of free patio.
What the extension adds
Subtracting the closed length from the extended length, the listings give: SERWALL 22.9 in, Modway Tahoe 23.5 in, both Darlee tables 28 in, and Fitenlor 31 in. The Darlee leaf is also described as removable, so it can be stored. For the other three the listings do not say whether the extension is a stored leaf, a slide-out or a fold-down panel, so check the product images and the manual before you buy.
Mistakes to avoid
- Measuring only the closed size. A 94.5 in or 120 in table needs the open length plus chair room, not just the footprint you see in the photo.
- Assuming an umbrella fits. Only the SERWALL and the Darlee Series 60 state a hole. Where it is not stated, ask the seller.
- Buying a set when you want a table. The SERWALL listing includes 7-piece and 9-piece sets; the size row decides what ships.
- Trusting the seating claim. The seating numbers are the sellers’ words. Use the lengths above to check.
- Skipping the weight limit. Only the SERWALL states one (220 lb). If the weight limit matters, ask before ordering the others.
Who should skip an extendable outdoor table
If you rarely host more than four people, a fixed 60 in table is simpler, and has no extension to wear out. If you are building an evening setup rather than a dining one, our guide to outdoor string lights and our write-up on a standing propane patio heater are the nearest posts we have, and the tabletop gas fire pit review covers a centerpiece that sits on a dining table.
Frequently asked questions
What is an extendable outdoor table?
It is an outdoor dining table that gets longer with a leaf, a slide-out section or an expanding top. The five listings above all state a shorter and a longer length.
How long does each table get?
SERWALL goes from 60.2 in to 83.1 in, Modway Tahoe from 71 in to 94.5 in, both Darlee tables from 92 in to 120 in, and Fitenlor from 31 or 32 in to 63 in.
Can I use an umbrella with an extendable table?
The SERWALL lists a 2 in umbrella hole with a cover. The Darlee Series 60 states an umbrella hole and says an umbrella can be added when the leaf is used. The other three listings do not state a hole.
Which one is made of aluminum?
All five list an aluminum frame. The SERWALL pairs it with an HDPE top, and the two Darlee tables are cast aluminum.
Do these include chairs?
The Darlee listings say the table can be matched with any chairs. The SERWALL has separate set options with chairs, so check which size you select. The listings for the other two describe the table only.
