Outdoor deck box sizes compared

Outdoor Deck Box Sizes Compared: 22 to 150 Gallons

Start with capacity, then check the lock, lid and cover before you buy. This guide compares eleven listings: eight outdoor storage boxes and three replacement covers. The boxes range from a 22-gallon Suncast to a 150-gallon VEVOR, and none of the listings is a Lifetime-branded box.

Sourcing note: every size, weight, lock, handle and feature in this guide comes from the Amazon listing and seller copy for each product. None of it has been checked against a physical box. Where two figures on the same listing disagree, we say so and do not pick one.

What is in this set

The comparison covers eleven listings: eight outdoor storage boxes and three replacement covers. The boxes range from a 22-gallon Suncast to a 150-gallon VEVOR. None of the listings is a Lifetime-branded box, and none is listed at 116 or 130 gallons. Lifetime appears only once, in the title of one cover, as a compatibility note. If you searched for a specific Lifetime model, this set will not show you that exact product, but it does show how the boxes that are available compare on size, lock, handles, seating and covers.

The closest rigid box to 116 gallons is the HAPPYGRILL at 120 gallons. The closest to 130 gallons is also the HAPPYGRILL. The VEVOR at 150 gallons is the largest in the set, but it is a foldable tarp design, not a rigid resin box. Read the sections below in that light: capacity alone does not tell you what a box will feel like to own.

Products worth checking

These three boxes sit at different points in the size range covered above: 22, 50 and 150 gallons. Specs come from the Amazon listing data we stored on 2026-10-11. None of these boxes has been measured or used on a physical deck.

Who should read this guide

Read it if you are choosing an outdoor box for cushions, garden tools, pool accessories or toys, and you want to know how the sizes, locks and covers compare before you order. It helps most when you have a specific gap on a patio, deck or balcony and need to know which box fits it.

Skip it if you need a box above 150 gallons, a box with a specific brand, or a box that is guaranteed to be waterproof for a particular number of years. The listings do not give those answers, and this guide does not invent them.

Boxes at a glance

The table below lists each box with the figures from its listing. Where a listing gives two sets of dimensions, both are shown.

The KINYING listing is titled as a 62-gallon deck box, but its specification table describes a cabinet measuring 15 by 34.3 by 36.2 inches with one drawer and one shelf, and it gives no capacity. Treat it as a cabinet, not a box you can sit on or size by gallons.

Worked example: the gap to the VEVOR

The VEVOR 150-gallon box is 128 gallons larger than the Suncast 22-gallon box (150 minus 22). The Fancyango 50-gallon box sits 28 gallons above the Suncast (50 minus 22).

Choosing by capacity

Capacity is the first filter, but it is a rough one. A 22-gallon Suncast holds a few cushions and some tools, and a 30-gallon box such as the DWVO or GULAIMOAO holds a set of cushions and a hose. The 37-gallon Keter Circa is a round stool that stores a little more and doubles as a seat. Once you move past 100 gallons, the choice narrows to the HAPPYGRILL at 120 gallons and the VEVOR at 150 gallons, and they are very different objects.

When you compare figures, check whether the listing gives gallons, litres or cubic feet. The Keter Circa lists 100 litres and 37 gallons on the same page, and the two figures do not match: 100 litres is about 26 gallons. Use the dimensions, not either capacity figure, when you compare it. The KINYING listing gives no capacity figure at all. Work from the dimensions where the listing gives them, and measure the space you have before you rely on a gallon figure.

Measuring the space and the path

Dimensions matter more than capacity for most patios. The HAPPYGRILL measures 52 inches long by 24 wide and 25 high. The VEVOR is 61 inches long, 24.8 wide and 29.5 high. The Fancyango is 30.67 inches long but only 16.89 wide, which fits a narrow side passage better than the 24-inch-wide boxes.

Measure three things before you order: the length and width of the spot, the height you can allow above the box, and the gap at the gate or door you must pass through. A box that fits the patio but not the gate has to be assembled on site, which takes longer than the listing suggests. The DWVO listing says one person can assemble it, so it is the easiest of the larger boxes to bring through a narrow gap in parts, but check that the parts fit through the gate before you start.

Materials and the waterproof claims

Most listings describe resin or polyethylene, and most describe the box as waterproof. Those are seller claims, and the wording varies. The GULAIMOAO listing calls its resin completely waterproof and weatherproof. The Fancyango listing says its high-density resin resists UV rays, rain and snow without cracking, fading or warping. The Suncast listing describes UV protection and resistance to rust, rot, dents and fading. The Keter Cortina lists UV-protected Evotech resin that the listing says prevents fading, cracking or disintegration.

The VEVOR is different. Its listing describes a polyethylene tarpaulin on a galvanised frame, with a sloped top to stop water pooling and a mesh vent that keeps items away from wet and musty conditions. A tarp can keep out rain well, but it is not a rigid shell, so it sags under weight and does not hold its shape the way a resin box does. If the box will sit where it is exposed to standing water, a rigid resin box is the safer choice, and the listing rating is only a starting point.

Check the warranty and whether the lid seals against rain. Most of these listings do not state a warranty length, so the seller’s own terms decide what you get if the box cracks.

Locks, lids and security

Several boxes have a lock or a hasp, but none includes a lock. The GULAIMOAO listing names a padlock. The Fancyango has a built-in padlock hasp, and the lock is not included. The HAPPYGRILL listing says a padlock is not included, and the WTFGO has a lockable lid with the lock not included. The DWVO listing suggests a combination lock or padlock for the top lid. The Keter Cortina has a lock-ready lid, and the lock is not included.

Budget for a padlock that fits the hasp on the box you choose, and check the hasp size on the listing before you buy the lock. A box without a lock is fine for cushions and tools, but it is not a secure place for anything valuable. Most of these listings do not describe the lid’s hinge or whether the lid can be lifted off with the box locked, so check the hinge in person if you care about how the lid sits when it is shut.

Handles and moving the box

A box that takes two people to move needs handles on both sides. The VEVOR listing has handles on both sides and says two people can lift it. The DWVO listing describes built-in handles on both sides for lifting and moving. The Fancyango listing describes built-in side handles for moving the box around the yard. The Keter Circa has a built-in handle, and its listing describes it as lightweight enough to move easily with the lid.

Weight matters once the box is full. The VEVOR weighs 14.3 pounds empty, the Keter Circa 15 pounds, the Suncast 9.8 pounds and the DWVO 5.15 kilograms. A full box is much heavier than the empty weight on the listing, so plan the route before you fill it, and move the box while it is still empty.

Seating and weight limits

Some boxes double as seats. The HAPPYGRILL listing describes a solid seating surface that supports three adults with a combined limit of 540 pounds. The Keter Cortina lists 286 pounds for its bench seating, and the Suncast listing gives a 200-pound maximum weight recommendation for its 22-gallon box. The Keter Circa works as a stool and as storage, and its listing describes it as a seat for guests.

These are three different figures for three different uses, so do not treat one as a rule for the others. Check the listing for a seating or weight figure before you sit on or stand on any box. A box with no seating rating in its listing should not be used as a seat.

The DWVO listing says its box doubles as a side table, a patio seat and a storage ottoman, and the Suncast listing describes the same dual use as a table and ottoman. The Keter Circa is marketed as a stool. If you want a box you can use as a table or a seat, pick one of these and check its rating.

Assembly and ventilation

Most listings describe assembly without tools. The DWVO listing says one person can assemble the box with no tools, using a knocked-down design. The WTFGO listing describes quick, tool-free assembly that takes minutes. The Keter Cortina listing does not describe its assembly time.

The Suncast listing has a conflict. Its bullets say the seat snaps together quickly, but its specification table says the product comes fully assembled. Look at the packing before you buy, and do not assume either version until you have seen the box. The VEVOR listing includes a mesh vent, which its seller says keeps items away from wet and musty conditions. A vent matters more in a damp climate, where a closed box can trap moisture around cushions.

Covers that fit

A cover should match the box, not just its capacity. Three covers are in the set, and their sizes do not all line up with the boxes.

  • Kovshuiwe: made for a 30-gallon resin box, with a listed size of 24 by 19 by 22 inches. It is 600D Oxford fabric, which the listing describes as waterproof, UV-resistant and tear-resistant. It has two adjustable buckle rings and a windproof drawstring at the bottom. The listing says to keep the air vents open and dry.
  • Jungda: the item dimensions are 56 by 27 by 23 inches, and the universal size note gives 62 by 29 by 25 inches for a 120-gallon box. The listing says it fits most 120-gallon deck boxes.
  • Flexiyard: 63 by 30 by 28 inches. The listing says it fits Keter Westwood, Rockwood, Sumatra, Brightwood and Borneo bins, along with Suncast bins, and describes the fit as 120 to 150 gallons. It has padded handles on two sides and straps on all four corners.
  • wothsi: sold in three sizes, 48 by 24 by 22, 51 by 24 by 28 and 62 by 30 by 28 inches. The listing says to measure the equipment before you buy.

Buy the cover to fit the box you own. Measure the box’s length, width and height, compare them with the cover’s listed size, and leave a little room so the drawstring or straps can close.

Anti-tip and child safety

The KINYING listing includes an anti-tip device for wall mounting, and says you can choose whether to install it when there are babies in the home. A lidded box can trap a child, so check the lid support and the lock before children play on or around a box. Keep the lid closed when no one is using the box, and never leave a child inside it.

Choosing by use

For a balcony or a small patio, the Suncast 22-gallon, the Keter Cortina or the Keter Circa fit the space and the storage. For cushions and pool toys on a small deck, a 30-gallon DWVO or GULAIMOAO is the usual choice, since both have lockable lids and handles. For a large yard with bulky tools, the HAPPYGRILL at 120 gallons is the largest rigid box in the set, and it is also the one with a stated seating rating. The VEVOR at 150 gallons is the largest, but its tarp design is a trade-off you must accept.

If you want a box you can sit on, the HAPPYGRILL and the Keter Circa both carry a seating or stool role. If you want a box that is easy to move, the Suncast at 9.8 pounds is the lightest in the set, and the Keter Circa at 15 pounds is the next lightest of the listings with a stated weight. If you want the best lock options, the DWVO and the GULAIMOAO list lockable lids.

Common mistakes

The first mistake is buying by gallons alone. The HAPPYGRILL at 120 gallons is the closest to a 116- or 130-gallon need in this set, but the usable space depends on the shape of the box and any shelves inside it. Measure the space you need.

The second mistake is ignoring the cover. A cover sized for 120 gallons will not fit a 30-gallon box, and a cover sized for 30 gallons will not fit a 150-gallon tarp. Measure first, then buy.

The third mistake is assuming the lock is included. None of the listings includes a padlock, so plan for one. The fourth is trusting a waterproof claim without checking the lid seal, the warranty and the material on the box you are buying.

Before you buy: a checklist

  • Measure the spot, the height and the gate or door you must pass through.
  • Check the listed weight and the handles, and decide who will move the box.
  • Choose a padlock that fits the hasp or lid on the box, and buy it with the box.
  • If you need a seat, confirm the seating rating on the listing.
  • Choose a cover that matches the box’s listed size, not its gallon figure.
  • Look at the listing’s conflicts: the Suncast assembly description, and the WTFGO dimensions that differ between the table and the bullet.
  • Confirm the warranty and the return terms with the seller.

Product by product

Each entry below sums up what the listing says about the product, what it is good for, and what to check before buying. Figures are the listing’s own. Where the listing is silent, the entry says so.

VEVOR 150-gallon tarp box (product by product)

The VEVOR is the largest box in the set, with an interior described as 61 by 25 by 30 inches. Its listing gives a weight of 14.3 pounds and a polyethylene tarpaulin body on a galvanised frame. The top is sloped so water and snow do not pool, and the listing says the slope is two inches higher than other boxes. It has a flip-top closure, handles on both sides that two people can use, and a mesh vent. The listing calls the box foldable. It suits bulky items such as garden tools and large cushions. Check the footprint carefully, because at 61 inches long it needs a wider path than most of the others.

HAPPYGRILL 120-gallon box

The HAPPYGRILL is 52 by 24 by 25 inches and is listed at 120 gallons. Its solid top is a seat that the listing says supports three adults with a combined limit of 540 pounds. The listing describes a hydraulic rod that eases the lid, reinforced metal support, and a lockable design that takes a padlock, which is not included. It has a wicker and grooved outer texture, and the listing describes its colour as dark brown. It is the best choice in the set if you want a large box that also works as a bench.

Fancyango 50-gallon box

The Fancyango measures 30.67 by 16.89 by 21.73 inches, which makes it narrow for its capacity. It has a lift-off lid, a padlock hasp with the lock not included, and built-in side handles. The listing describes a high-density resin that it says resists UV rays, rain and snow, without cracking, fading or warping. It is described as lightweight and portable. It suits a side passage or a narrow patio better than the wider boxes.

WTFGO 31-gallon box

The WTFGO is rattan black resin and weighs 5.06 kilograms. Its lid is lockable, and the listing says the lock is not included. Assembly is described as quick and tool-free. Its listing gives two sets of dimensions that do not match: 20.8 by 22.1 by 17.1 inches in the specification table, and 22.09 by 17.09 by 20.87 inches in one of the bullets. Measure the box before you choose a spot, since the listing does not settle which figure is right.

DWVO 30-gallon box

The DWVO is 21.99 by 20.8 by 17.1 inches and weighs 5.15 kilograms. It has a lockable top, and its listing suggests a combination lock or padlock for the lid. Built-in handles on both sides make it easy to lift and move. The listing describes a knocked-down design that one person can assemble with no tools. It is described as a side table, a patio seat and a storage ottoman. Its finish is listed as a resin rattan look.

GULAIMOAO 30-gallon box

The GULAIMOAO is 23.1 by 18.1 by 21.9 inches and is a grey resin box. Its listing describes a lockable design that takes a padlock, and it says the resin is completely waterproof and weatherproof. The listing lists several uses: cushions, pillows, pool accessories and gardening tools, and it says the box can be a side table or a yard seat, and can also serve as an indoor laundry bin. It is described as easy to install.

Keter Cortina 30-gallon box

The Keter Cortina measures 20.7 by 20.6 by 20.6 inches and is marketed for balconies, patios and compact spaces. It has a lock-ready lid, and the lock is not included. The listing gives a 286-pound weight capacity for its bench seating. The resin is described as Evotech, which the listing says is UV-protected and resistant to fading, cracking and disintegration.

Keter Circa 37-gallon stool

The Keter Circa is a round resin box and stool, 26.77 by 26.77 by 17.32 inches, and weighs 15 pounds. Its listing describes a built-in handle, a lift-off lid, and a rattan-look green finish. The listing says it is breathable, impact-resistant, rust-resistant, UV-resistant and weathertight. It works as storage and as extra seating for guests. Its capacity is listed as 100 litres and 37 gallons, and those two figures do not match, so compare it by its dimensions.

Suncast 22-gallon box

The Suncast is the smallest box in the set, measuring 22 by 20.5 by 17 inches, and it weighs 9.8 pounds. Its listing gives a 200-pound maximum weight recommendation. The listing describes UV protection and resistance to rust, rot, dents and fading. It is sold as a storage table and ottoman, and its listing says it provides extra seating. Its listing contains a conflict: the bullets say it snaps together quickly, and the specification table says it comes fully assembled. Check the packing before you buy.

KINYING cabinet

The KINYING is titled as a 62-gallon deck box, but its specification table describes a cabinet measuring 15 by 34.3 by 36.2 inches. It has one drawer and one shelf. It is made of HDPE, which the listing describes as colourfast, UV-resistant and rust-free. The listing says it has an anti-tip device for wall mounting and that the device matters if there are babies at home. It gives no capacity in its specification table, so do not treat it as a 62-gallon box.

If the box will also hold hoses and garden tools, the heavy duty garden hose reel and the 4 wheel garden hose reel cart guides cover those jobs.

Covers in detail

The covers in this set are the Kovshuiwe, the Jungda, the Flexiyard and the wothsi. Each listing gives its own size, and the sizes do not match one another, so a cover must be checked against the box, not the gallon label. The Kovshuiwe is made for a 30-gallon box, with a listed size of 24 by 19 by 22 inches, and it is made of 600D Oxford fabric. The Jungda has an item size of 56 by 27 by 23 inches and a universal size of 62 by 29 by 25 inches for a 120-gallon box. The Flexiyard is 63 by 30 by 28 inches and has padded handles on two sides and straps on all four corners. The wothsi comes in 48 by 24 by 22, 51 by 24 by 28 and 62 by 30 by 28 inches, and its listing says it is collapsible when not in use.

The covers have one thing in common: all of them rely on straps, drawstrings or buckle rings to hold them in wind. Pull the strap tight on each corner and check the drawstring before you leave a cover on a box in a windy spot.

Setting up and keeping the box

Place the box on a level, dry surface. Concrete and paving can hold water underneath, and a box sitting in a puddle will rot or crack sooner. Leave a gap of a few inches at the back so air can move, and keep the box off the grass if the listing does not say it is designed for ground contact.

Keep the lid closed when the box is not in use, and keep the vent clear. The Keter Circa listing says it is weathertight and the VEVOR says its mesh vent keeps items away from wet conditions. Those features work only if the vent and the lid seal stay clean. Wipe the inside after a wet season, and let it dry fully before you store cushions inside.

Check the hinge and the lock twice a year. Replace a padlock that has rusted, and tighten any loose screws on the hinge or handles. A box that is maintained lasts longer than the warranty term, which most of these listings do not state.

How to read a listing before you buy

Read the specification table first, then the bullets. The table is usually more reliable for dimensions and weight, and the bullets are more likely to contain marketing. When the two disagree, as the Suncast and WTFGO listings do, measure the box or ask the seller.

Look for three things: a capacity in gallons, a dimension set in inches, and a weight. If a listing gives none of the three, the product is hard to compare. The KINYING listing gives dimensions and no capacity. Check that the lock and the seating rating are stated, and that the warranty term is given. If any of these is missing, ask the seller before you order.

Treat seller claims as claims. Words such as completely waterproof, weatherproof or UV-resistant describe what the seller says, not what a laboratory has tested. Ask for a warranty length or a test result if the claim matters to you.

Short answers by situation

  • Small balcony: the Suncast 22-gallon or the Keter Cortina 30-gallon.
  • Cushions on a small deck: the DWVO or the GULAIMOAO, both 30 gallons with lockable lids.
  • Bench seating for guests: the HAPPYGRILL 120-gallon or the Keter Circa stool.
  • Bulky garden tools and a large yard: the VEVOR 150-gallon, if a tarp design is acceptable, or the HAPPYGRILL if you need a rigid box.
  • A narrow side passage: the Fancyango 50-gallon, which is 16.89 inches wide.
  • Easy to move: the Suncast at 9.8 pounds.

More questions

Does the VEVOR box need a cover?

The VEVOR is a tarp box, so a cover is less important for water than for sun and dust. Its listing describes a waterproof polyethylene tarpaulin. If you leave the box outside all year, a cover still helps keep the tarp clean. Check the Flexiyard cover, which the listing says fits Keter and Suncast bins from 120 to 150 gallons, but confirm the fit against the VEVOR’s own dimensions before you buy.

Can I sit on a deck box?

Only if the listing gives a seating rating. The HAPPYGRILL listing gives 540 pounds for three adults, the Keter Cortina gives 286 pounds, and the Suncast gives a 200-pound maximum weight recommendation. Boxes without a seating rating should not be used as a seat.

Which box is best for cushions?

A 30-gallon box such as the DWVO or GULAIMOAO fits a set of outdoor cushions, and both have lockable lids. The Keter Circa at 37 gallons is also a good choice if you want a round box that doubles as a stool.

Final take

None of the eleven listings matches a Lifetime 116- or 130-gallon box, and the set does not include the exact sizes many buyers search for. What it does give is a clear comparison of the boxes that are available, by size, lock, handles, seating and cover. Pick the box that fits the space and the job, buy a padlock and a cover that match its listed size, and check the listing’s conflicts before you order.

Planning the spot before you buy

Most buyers choose the box first and find out later that it does not fit the spot. Work the other way round. Draw the space on paper with its real measurements: the width and depth of the patio or deck corner, the clearance from the wall or fence, and the height you can allow above the lid. Then mark the path the box must take from the delivery point to the spot. A box that fits the corner but not the gate is a common problem, and the listings do not warn you about it.

For a 22-gallon Suncast, 20.5 inches of depth and 22 inches of width leave room on most patios. For the HAPPYGRILL at 52 by 24 by 25 inches, you need a longer run and a clear 52 inches along the wall. For the VEVOR at 61 inches long, check that the lid can open fully without hitting a chair, a table or a wall. Measure the lid’s swing as well as the box itself, since a lid that opens into a walkway is a hazard.

Think about access too. A box placed against a wall is harder to reach from the back, so leave a clear side for the lid and for cleaning. If you plan to use the box as a seat, place it where a guest can sit without blocking a door or a step.

Sun, rain and the seasons

Every listing in this set describes some protection from weather, but the figures are the seller’s. Sunlight is the first thing that fades a resin box. The Suncast listing describes fade resistance, and the Keter Cortina listing describes UV-protected resin that resists fading and cracking. A box that sits in full sun for most of the day will still fade over several seasons, so a cover, or a shaded spot, extends its life.

Rain and snow test the lid seal and the drainage. The VEVOR’s sloped top is designed so that water and snow do not pool, which matters on a tarp design where standing water can stretch the material. The Fancyango listing describes resistance to rain and snow without warping. Neither listing gives a test result, so look at the lid edge, the hinge and the base after the first wet month.

Winter brings a different risk. Snow loaded on a lid can crack a thin plastic lid, and a tarp can sag under a heavy load. Clear snow from the lid after heavy falls, and do not stand on a box that does not list a seating rating. Summer heat can soften a cheap lid, so keep the box closed when you are not using it.

Matching the box to the job

The job decides the box more than the capacity does. Think about what goes in, how often you open the box, and who will use it.

Cushions and pads. These are bulky and light, so a box with a wide opening is more useful than a deep one. The DWVO and GULAIMOAO at 30 gallons hold a set of cushions, and both have lockable lids. The Suncast at 22 gallons holds a single set of cushions for a small patio.

Garden tools. Long-handled tools need height, not width. The VEVOR at 150 gallons takes long tools, and its listing describes a frame that stands up to bulky items. A box with a lid that lifts off, such as the Fancyango, gives clear access to the full depth.

Pool accessories. Pool gear is wet and gritty, so a box with a vent and a lid that seals is better. The VEVOR’s mesh vent is listed for keeping items away from wet and musty conditions. Rinse the gear before you store it and let it dry.

Seating. If you want a box you can sit on, pick one with a seating rating in its listing: the HAPPYGRILL at 540 pounds for three adults, the Keter Cortina at 286 pounds, or the Suncast at a 200-pound maximum weight recommendation. The Keter Circa is listed as a stool and extra seating for guests.

Small spaces. On a balcony, the Keter Cortina is designed for compact spaces, and its listing describes it as ideal for balconies. The Suncast is the lightest choice at 9.8 pounds, which matters when you have to carry a box up stairs.

Storage habits that make a box last

A box that is well used and well kept lasts longer than one that is only closed and forgotten. Put heavy items low and light items high, so the lid does not open onto a load that falls out. Keep sharp tools in a bag or wrapped, since a metal edge can scrape the inside of a resin box, and keep chemicals out of the box entirely.

Dry items before they go in. A damp cushion or a wet hose left inside a sealed box can cause mould and an odour that is hard to remove. Air the box after a long wet spell, and leave the lid open for a few hours on a dry day. The Keter Circa listing says it is breathable, which helps, but the box still needs to be aired.

Keep a note of the box’s model number, the lock or key type and the cover size in one place. When you replace a cover or a lock, you will need those details, and the listing may be removed or change later.

Padlocks, keys and hasps in practice

Most boxes in this set take a padlock but do not include one. The GULAIMOAO and DWVO listings describe lockable designs. The Fancyango has a padlock hasp and the lock is not included. The HAPPYGRILL has a lockable design with a padlock that is not included. A padlock is a simple way to stop casual access, but it does not stop a determined thief who can cut the hasp, so do not store anything valuable in a patio box.

Choose a padlock with a shackle that fits the hasp’s gap. A shackle that is too thin slips out easily, and one that is too thick will not close. Check the hasp size on the listing and on the box itself before you buy. Keep a spare key somewhere safe, and consider a lock with a key that you can replace if you lose the first one.

Assembly day

Plan an hour or two for a box that needs assembly, and a little longer for a larger one. The DWVO listing says one person can assemble it, with no tools, using a knocked-down design. The WTFGO listing says assembly is quick and tool-free. The Suncast listing has a conflict, with bullets saying it snaps together quickly and the specification table saying it comes fully assembled, so check the box contents before the day.

Lay out the parts on a flat, clean surface before you start. Count the panels and fittings against the parts list, and set aside anything that looks damaged. Assemble the base first, then the walls, then the lid, and keep the lid’s hinge free of debris. Once the box is up, test the lid with and without the lock, and check that it sits flat when closed. A lid that does not seal is the most common fault to find after assembly.

Replacing a box that has failed

Resin boxes rarely fail all at once. The usual signs are a cracked lid, a warped side, a hinge that works loose, or a lock that no longer closes. Check for these every season. A small crack on the lid can be watched, but a cracked base or side should be replaced, since the load is no longer carried evenly.

When you replace a box, match the new one to the space and the job, not the old one’s capacity alone. If the old box was too small, the new one needs to be larger, and the cover must match the new dimensions. Keep the old box’s cover until the new box is in place, since a cover that fits well may not fit the replacement.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a Lifetime 116- or 130-gallon box in this set?

No. None of the eleven listings is a Lifetime-branded box, and none is listed at 116 or 130 gallons. The closest rigid box to either size is the HAPPYGRILL at 120 gallons.

Is there a Keter box larger than 37 gallons in this set?

No. The only Keter box is the Keter Circa stool at 37 gallons, and the Keter Cortina at 30 gallons. The Flexiyard cover lists Keter models among the bins it fits, but those are described at 120 to 150 gallons, not as boxes in this set.

Which box is the largest in the set?

The VEVOR at 150 gallons is the largest. It is a polyethylene tarp box with a galvanised frame, not a rigid resin box.

Does any box include a padlock?

No. Every listing that mentions a lock says the lock is not included, or does not include one. Buy a padlock that fits the hasp or lid.

Which cover fits a 30-gallon box?

The Kovshuiwe cover is listed for a 30-gallon resin box, at 24 by 19 by 22 inches. Measure your box first, since the listings give different footprints for the 30-gallon boxes.
