Hose connector with control valve

Hose Connector With Control Valve

As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Details

A hose connector with a control valve sits between the faucet and the hose, or between the hose and the sprinkler, so you can stop or adjust the water without walking back to the tap. The catch is that Amazon uses “control valve” loosely. Some listings sell a plain on/off ball valve, some a lever valve, one sells a Gardena part that belongs to a different coupling system, and one is a three-way splitter. This page sorts nine listings we opened by what the valve actually does, shows where the listings disagree with themselves, and tells you which one to skip for your hose.

Quick answer

If you only need on and off at a standard 3/4 inch garden hose thread, a full-port ball valve such as the Ana Ark or Cekwiet stainless units is the plainest match; both list GHT threads. If you want a lever you can work with one hand, look at the Melnor lever valve, whose listing reports a 120 psi maximum pressure. If one faucet must feed several hoses or sprinklers, the Boltigen three-way splitter or the Melnor four-valve manifold fits. The Orbit coupling and the Gardena Regulator are the two listings that say outright they adjust flow, not only shut it off. Skip the two Gardena parts unless the rest of your hose gear is Gardena.

What “control valve” means on a hose connector

The listings we opened use the words control valve, flow control valve and shut-off valve for very similar parts. The useful difference is whether the part can only be fully open or fully closed, or whether the listing says you can set a partial flow.

  • On/off valves. The Ana Ark and Cekwiet units are listed as ball valves or full-port shut-off valves. Their titles call them “flow control” or “water control” valves, but the text we captured describes shutting off and full flow, not metering.
  • Lever valves. Melnor lists its single and four-way units with a “Lever Valve” type and says the lever makes it easy to “control water flow”. Orbit describes a shut-off lever and says the valve lets you start, stop or adjust flow.
  • Regulating valves. The Gardena Regulator Valve listing says flow can be “continuously regulated and shut off”, which is the clearest regulating claim in this set.
  • Gate valve. Chapin lists a gate valve type with a flip lever for changing the flow or shutting it off.

None of the listings gives a flow rate in gallons per minute, so a comparison of how smoothly each valve meters water is not possible from listing data. Treat partial-flow use on a ball valve as unproven until a manufacturer page says otherwise.

Product profiles

1. Orbit Elevated Shut-Off Coupling 28296: a listing that says it adjusts flow

Specs (from the listing, checked 2026-10-18): Model 28296, item type hose adapter, connector type coupling, material metal and rubber, 10.5 ounces, 2 x 4 x 5.5 inches. The bullets say it lets you start, stop or adjust water flow at the hose connection without going back to the faucet, has a metal threaded connector with a protective coating, and has an ergonomic shut-off lever.

Pros: The listing states adjustable flow in plain words and describes a low-friction valve with an ergonomic lever. Cons: The listing does not give a thread size in the fields we captured, and it gives no maximum pressure.

Best for: Someone who wants to ease a sprinkler or soaker hose up to a partial flow from the hose end. Skip if: You need a stated thread size before you order.

2. Melnor 65171AMZ Lever Flow Through Valve Connector: lever operation with a stated pressure limit

Specs (from the listing, checked 2026-10-18): Valve type lever valve, plastic exterior, inlet and outlet connection size 5/8 inches, maximum pressure 120 psi, 5.3 ounces, 1.65 x 1.77 x 4.25 inches, manufacturer warranty listed as lifetime. Bullets describe a high-volume valve, a longer lever in a vertical orientation, and metal hose threads.

Pros: A stated 120 psi limit and a lever that the listing describes as easy to operate. Cons: The thread size is listed as 5/8 inches, not 3/4 inch GHT, and the exterior is plastic.

Best for: A light-duty lever shut-off at the end of a standard hose. Skip if: You want an all-metal body, or the 5/8 inch figure worries you; check it against your hose fitting.

3. Melnor 65135AMZ 4 Way Lever Flow Through Valve Connector: four outlets, four levers

Specs (from the listing, checked 2026-10-18): Four high-volume valves with long vertical levers, metal material and metal hose threads, yellow and black, 1.04 pounds, 2.24 x 8.07 x 5.27 inches, limited lifetime warranty. The connector type is listed as flange.

Pros: One lever per outlet, so each hose or sprinkler can be shut off separately. Cons: The captured listing does not state inlet thread size or maximum pressure, and “flange” as a connector type is unexplained.

Best for: A faucet that feeds several hoses at once. Skip if: You only run one hose; a single valve is lighter and simpler.

4. Ana Ark 304 Stainless Steel Shut-Off Valve, 2 Pack: two stainless ball valves

Specs (from the listing, checked 2026-10-18): Brand Ana Ark, ball valve, stainless steel finish with an aluminum alloy butterfly handle, 3/4 inch GHT male and female threads, 360-degree rotatable connector, 1.01 pounds for the pack, 3 x 1 x 1 inches. The title calls it a “hose flow control valve” and the listing says full flow.

Pros: Two valves in the pack, and the thread is clearly stated. Cons: The listing describes shut-off and full flow, not metered flow, and the handle is aluminum alloy rather than stainless.

Best for: Two separate hose runs that each need a shut-off at standard thread size. Skip if: You want to throttle water to a sprinkler; this listing does not say the valve is meant for that.

5. Cekwiet 304 Stainless Steel Hose Valve: full port with a stated bore

Specs (from the listing, checked 2026-10-18): 304 stainless steel body, 3/4 inch GHT, rotating connector, a “0.55 inch inner diameter full port”, 11.7 ounces, 2.1 x 2.1 x 3.3 inches, manual operation. The title calls it an “inline water control valve”.

Pros: It is the only valve here that states the size of the flow path in inches. Cons: The 0.55 inch bore is smaller than the 3/4 inch thread name might suggest, and no pressure rating is given in the fields we captured.

Best for: A single inline valve where you want the bore size on paper. Skip if: You need two or more valves for the price of one listing.

6. Boltigen 3 Way Brass Garden Hose Splitter: three outlets with shut-off valves

Specs (from the listing, checked 2026-10-18): Brass, “+” type three-way body, full flow port, 3/4 inch GHT female and male threads, built-in rubber sealing ring, 1.94 pounds. The title calls it a “shut off diverter control valve”.

Pros: One faucet becomes three controllable outlets, with a stated thread size. Cons: The listing weight is 1.94 pounds before water, which is a load for a faucet to carry, and the listing gives no pressure rating.

Best for: A hose, a sprinkler and a drip line off one tap. Skip if: Your faucet is loose or you would rather not hang a heavy fitting on it.

7. Chapin 6-9479 Deluxe 1-Way Garden Hose Shut-Off Connector: gate valve with a flip lever

Specs (from the listing, checked 2026-10-11): Gate valve, metal and plastic, natural metal finish, GHT thread type, 2 x 2 x 4.25 inches. Bullets describe a flip lever for changing flow or shutting it off, a high-volume valve with unrestricted flow, and metal hose threads.

Pros: A flip lever, and the listing says it changes flow, not only shuts it. Cons: The listing records thread size as 2 inches, which cannot be the hose thread; read it as an error in the data and check the fitting.

Best for: A basic lever shut-off. Skip if: A garbled thread entry is a dealbreaker for you.

8. Gardena Profi System (Maxi Flow) Hose Connector with Control Valve: matches the words, not the thread

Specs (from the listing, checked 2026-10-18): Model 715267, item type “Hose Connector+Control Valve”, plastic, barb connector type, 5.4 ounces, 8.66 x 4.13 x 2.36 inches, one-year warranty, made in Germany. The bullets are only four short lines.

Pros: It is the one listing titled exactly “hose connector with control valve”. Cons: The thread fields conflict: thread size is 19 mm (3/4 inch) but thread type is 1/2 inch, and the connector type is barb. The title names the Profi System (Maxi Flow) series, which points to Gardena’s own coupling family, and the listing does not say it fits a standard garden hose thread.

Best for: An existing Gardena Profi System setup. Skip if: You own ordinary 3/4 inch GHT hoses and nozzles.

9. Gardena Regulator Valve 18267-20: the clearest “regulate” claim

Specs (from the listing, checked 2026-10-18): Model 18267-20, ball valve, maximum pressure 290 psi, garden hose thread, 2.65 ounces, 4.41 x 1.38 x 2.36 inches, specification met listed as CE and WRAS. Bullets say flow can be continuously regulated and shut off, for example at the outlet of a Y-coupling, that it suits adjusting a sprinkler’s range, that it resists frost, and that it is made in Europe.

Pros: Continuous regulation is stated, and so is a 290 psi maximum. Cons: The outlet is described as a Y-coupling type and the connector as “fast, flexible”, which suggests Gardena’s own fittings, and the material appears in Japanese (“plastic”) in the data.

Best for: Setting sprinkler range on a Gardena system. Skip if: Your sprinkler and hose use common threaded ends only.

Listing conflicts to check before you order

  • Melnor 65171AMZ: thread and connection size are given as 5/8 inch, while most garden fittings are sold as 3/4 inch GHT. Confirm the thread on the current page.
  • Chapin 6-9479: thread size is listed as 2 inches next to a GHT thread type. The two cannot both describe a hose end.
  • Gardena Maxi Flow connector: thread size 19 mm (3/4 inch), thread type 1/2 inch, connector type barb.
  • Cekwiet: 3/4 inch thread with a 0.55 inch inner diameter. Both can be true, but the bore is the smaller figure.
  • Ana Ark, Cekwiet: titles say “flow control” while the text describes full flow and shut-off.

How to choose

  1. Match the thread first. Garden hoses use 3/4 inch GHT. Only the Ana Ark, Cekwiet and Boltigen listings state that outright.
  2. Decide on off or adjust. If you only shut water off, any valve here works. If you want partial flow, rely on the listings that say so: Orbit, Gardena Regulator, Chapin.
  3. Count your outlets. One valve per hose, or one splitter for several.
  4. Weigh the faucet. The Boltigen is 1.94 pounds and the Melnor four-way is 1.04 pounds before water.
  5. Read the pressure line. Only Melnor (120 psi) and the Gardena Regulator (290 psi) state a maximum.

Worked example: One faucet must feed two sprinklers and a hose, which is 3 outlets. The Boltigen splitter covers that exactly. The Melnor four-way covers it with 4 – 3 = 1 spare valve. Buying two Ana Ark valves (a 2-pack) instead would cover only 2 of the 3 outlets, so you would still need a splitter. That is our arithmetic, not a figure from any listing.

FAQ

Is a shut-off valve the same as a control valve?

In these listings the words overlap. A shut-off valve opens or closes. A control valve is supposed to also set a partial flow, but only the Orbit, Gardena Regulator and Chapin listings say so in their text.

Which valve fits a standard garden hose?

The Ana Ark, Cekwiet and Boltigen listings state 3/4 inch GHT, the standard garden hose thread. Check the others on the current page.

Can I use a Gardena connector with a normal hose?

The Gardena Maxi Flow listing does not say it fits a standard thread and its thread fields conflict. Treat it as a Gardena-system part unless the current page or the manufacturer says otherwise.

Does the stainless valve rust?

The Ana Ark and Cekwiet listings describe 304 stainless steel, and the Ana Ark title mentions rust and freeze resistance. We did not open a manufacturer test, so treat that as the seller’s claim.

How was this checked?

Specs come from the Amazon listings opened on 2026-10-18, except Chapin on 2026-10-11. We did not test any of these products.
